Become an Ally
ATD Fourth World Allies are people of all walks of life who choose to act in solidarity with families and individuals living in extreme poverty. They come from different professions, backgrounds, and generations, yet they share a common conviction: poverty can be overcome when people stand together.
Allies commit themselves to building relationships rooted in respect and mutual learning. They listen, show up, and work alongside people with lived experience of poverty. Rather than acting “for” others, they act with them. This spirit of partnership is at the heart of ATD Fourth World.
Many Allies give their time and skills in concrete and generous ways. They help run Story Gardens, creating spaces where children can discover the joy of books and learning. They organize and prepare gatherings that strengthen community and reflection. They reach out to friends, neighbors, and colleagues to raise awareness and invite others into the movement. Some support fundraising efforts, advocate for just policies, or contribute professional expertise. Others simply offer steady, faithful presence over time.
What unites them is not a single role, but a shared commitment to dignity, participation, and inclusion. They understand that ending poverty requires long-term relationships, collective action, and hope.
We are honored to share the stories of three Allies. Each one brings their own journey, talents, and motivations. Together, their experiences reflect the many ways people can stand in solidarity and help build a society where no one is left behind.
